Marley and me - John Grogan

An absolute must read for all dog lovers...Marley is a sweet labrador (looks so much like my Betty...). He is strong, gluttony, and intelligent, but just does not want to understand humans :) His behavior does force you to think of some kind of mental retardation...but whatever it is, you cannot stop loving the little thing though it destroys every thing around!

For those of you who haven't yet decided on having kids, I suggest you to strongly read this book, and get a puppy like Marley...trust me, your patience will grow by leaps and bounds, and you will never ever growl at your kids :) I wonder if you will ever find a more comforting friend than Marley when you see the love and care that he showers on his owner when she suffers a miscarriage...This teaches you one thing - Give and take love in spite of all the imperfections...

I did not like the fact that Marley was put to sleep for repeated occurances of bloat...may be the author should have taken some risk and should have got him operated...This reminds me of my own little labrador Tiny who died on 3rd Nov 2006 following a complete kidney failure at the age of just 14 months. Yes, we did put it in lots of sleepless days and nights to get her treated knowing that she wouldn't recover, but still she was my kid - my dog, my Tiny. God bless her soul.

Coming back to the book, read it...you cannot help falling in love with Marley.
